Galatea resuscitates and resurrects Ophelia.
Medusa's gaze arouses you from slumber.
Cassandra awakens with a scream.
Forgive me, my thought process sometimes lacks discipline. I have strange ideas. I'm a sort of armchair philosopher turned poet. This is a writer's blog, but I do not publish my finished work here. I post fragments, pieces, ideas; works in progress. I test out ideas that may or may not become more fully realized. I write flash fiction and poetry. I love generic transgression and experimental poetry. I write mostly about art and failed romance. When all else fails, I post things that inspire me.

Poem in Your Pocket Day
there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock.
people so tired
mutilated
either by love or no love.
people just are not good to each other
one on one.
the rich are not good to the rich
the poor are not good to the poor.
we are afraid.
our educational system tells us
that we can all be
big-ass winners.
it hasn't told us
about the gutters
or the suicides.
or the terror of one person
aching in one place
alone
untouched
unspoken to
watering a plant.
~ Charles Bukowski, Love is a Dog from Hell

The Writing Gods Have Smiled on Me Once Again!
I have just been informed that I have been awarded a summer writing fellowship! This is truly fortunate as I have a book project to finish and the prospect of teaching over the summer and finding time to complete the ms was daunting to say the least.
There was an awards ceremony today and some very smart people said nice things about me. It's rather nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks my work has value.

Random
Today I need some things. I need a summer teaching job or a writing fellowship. I need for you to not stalk me. I need to finish a paper on Herman Melville. I need to stop spending my weekends on work. Hah! I need a wee bit of whisky.
Four out of five isn't bad.

I'm back
I've been away. Working and studying have consumed my life. But this place needs some sprucing up, cleaning out, and clearing away.
